The Wanted are a British-Irish boy band consisting of group members Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, wanted win casino Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes and the late Tom Parker. The group was formed in 2009 and signed a worldwide contract to Universal Music, Island Records and Mercury Records, and was managed by Scooter Braun.[1][2]

The Wanted's released their debut album, The Wanted in 2010. It peaked at number 4 on the UK Albums Chart.[3][4] and spawned three UK prime 20 singles: their debut single, "All Time Low", which topped UK Singles Chart,[1] "Heart Vacancy", which reached number two, and "Lose My Mind", which reached quantity nineteen. Their comply with-up album Battleground, was launched in 2011 and reached quantity five within the UK and number 4 in Ireland. History

2009-2010: Formation and debut album

Between 28 March and 15 April 2010, the group embarked on the fifteen-date Behind Bars theatre tour, which saw them play in twelve UK cities. They had been supported by Lawson, Twenty Twenty and Starboy Nathan.

2011-2012: Battleground and The Wanted: The EP

In January 2011, the group started to work on their second studio album. The album featured writing credit from the band members on ten of the fifteen tracks, and contributions from Steve Mac, Wayne Hector, Ed Drewett, Diane Warren and Guy Chambers. The album's lead single, "Gold Forever", was launched in aid of Comic Relief[13][14] and debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart. In July 2011, the group released the album's second single, "Glad You Came", which grew to become their second quantity-one single. It was number one for 2 weeks, and stayed in the highest ten of the chart for six weeks. The only also reached number one in Ireland and remained there for 5 weeks.[2] The tune also charted in some European territories, and was very profitable in Australia. The third single from the album, "Lightning", was released on 16 October 2011, peaking at quantity 2 in the UK and quantity 5 in Ireland. The fourth single, "Warzone", was released on 26 December 2011, with the music video and radio debut coming in early November 2011. On 7 November 2011, the group's second album Battleground was launched. It debuted at number 5 within the UK and number four in Ireland. It has since been certified Platinum within the UK. Along with shows in the United Kingdom, including T4 on the Beach, V Festival, and the iTunes Festival, the group supported Canadian singer Justin Bieber in Brazil on 8 and 9 October 2011 and Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale Tour on the Manchester Evening News Arena on 6 November 2011.

Between 15 February and 9 March 2012, the group embarked on "The Code" tour, to advertise the discharge of the album. The 16-date arena tour noticed the group play in thirteen cities in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Often called #TheCodeTour, every live performance featured an interactive ingredient that linked to the group's official Facebook and Twitter pages.

In a bid to break into the United States market, the Wanted went on a short promotional radio and club tour of the United States, touring between 17 January to eight February 2012. The success of the 10-date tour led to the group's official release of their debut American single, "Glad You Came". It peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot one hundred and has since bought over 3 million copies there. Their debut American EP, The Wanted: The EP, was launched in April 2012, debuting at number seven in the US and quantity eight in Canada. "Chasing the Sun" was launched because the band's second official single there, peaking at number 50 on the BillboardHot 100 whilst also reaching number one on the recent Dance Club Songs chart. "Chasing the Sun" was released on 21 May 2012. On 22 May 2012, the band opened and performed at the first Q102's Springle Ball live performance. On 14 June 2012 the band performed a concert at New York City's Beacon Theatre, which was also broadcast stay on music tv station Fuse. The group visited Australia and New Zealand for the promotion of their extended play in August 2012.[15] Following their promotional tour of Australia, the group headed to the US for various promotional live shows.

2012-2014: Word of Mouth, The Wanted Life and indefinite hiatus

The Wanted began engaged on their third studio album shortly after the release of Battleground on 4 November 2011. In May 2012, "Chasing the Sun" was launched as the album's lead single, and the third single from the band's The Wanted: The EP within the United States. Around this time, the band additionally premiered a brand new track known as "Satellite", which was co-written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. In August 2012, the band filmed a music video in Los Angeles, reportedly for his or her model new single, "I discovered You". However, when the video for "I discovered You" was launched in October 2012, it was a special one. The band later revealed that they'd reshot the video in London, not being happy with the first one. It was confirmed that the album would feature a track co-written by fellow label-mate Justin Bieber.

In early February 2013, it was introduced that the Wanted would star in their own reality sequence called The Wanted Life, produced by Ryan Seacrest.[20] In the United States, it premiered on E! on 2 June 2013.[21] In April 2013, the band announced the discharge of the third single from their third album, titled "Walks Like Rihanna", named after Barbadian singer Rihanna.[22] It was launched on 23 June 2013 and debuted and peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. On 9 September 2013, the band announced that their new album Word of Mouth can be released on four November. It was preceded by the release of "We Own the Night" and "Show Me Love (America)". On 25 July 2013 the group was spoken to by police after champagne was thrown out of a lodge window, soaking poet Todd Swift. A police statement stated "Police had been called at around 12.20pm on Thursday, July 25, to a report of a man having been verbally threatened and having had a liquid substance thrown over him at a lodge in Marylebone."[23][24][25][26] On 7 October 2013, it was announced that the Wanted would embark on their first world tour, the Word of Mouth World Tour, in 2014. The tour included reveals within the UK, mainland Europe, the US, and Canada.[27]

The band originally announced in January 2014 that they have been taking a hiatus as a way to pursue individual solo initiatives.[28][29] In a 2014 interview with The Sun, George said that part of the group's reasoning for taking a hiatus was because of the success of one Direction, saying "One Direction are a phenomenon that no one else can compete with. They've taken over the market. Now we have our own followers, who we love, however we couldn't stop issues from happening".[30] Parker later echoed George's statements in an interview with Digital Spy, stating "For The Wanted to try to compete towards one of the most important bands on the planet ... it's almost unattainable. I don't suppose any band on the market can compete with them at the moment".[31]

2021-present: Reunion, Most Wanted: The greatest Hits and Parker's loss of life

Since 2020, the band had been teasing a reunion.[32][33][8] On 5 September 2021, it was reported that a reunion can be officially announced on eight September, with new music and performances introduced, together with elevating cash for most cancers charities in help of band member Tom Parker,[34] who was diagnosed with an inoperable stage 4 glioblastoma in late 2020.[9]

On 8 September 2021, it was introduced that the band would return with a biggest hits album titled Most Wanted: The best Hits, set to be launched on 8 November. The album would also embody new music. Additionally, the band were set to carry out at a charity concert by Tom Parker titled "Inside My Head - The Concert" at the Royal Albert Hall on 20 September 2021, the band's first efficiency collectively in seven years.[8] The live performance raised money for the cancer charities Stand Up to Cancer and The National Brain Appeal.[35]

On 13 October 2021, the band launched "Rule The World", co-written by Max George, their first single in seven years. This was closely adopted by their greatest hits album, Most Wanted: The greatest Hits, on 12 November 2021, which included one other new music titled "Colours", co-written by Nathan Sykes, alongside all the fan favourites and a few newly recorded acoustic tracks. Their Christmas single, a cover of East 17's "Stay Another Day", was launched 5 November 2021 and likewise features on the deluxe version of Most Wanted. An acoustic cowl of "Remember" by Becky Hill and David Guetta was released as the first promotional single off the album.

They kicked off their twelve-date Most Wanted: The best Hits Tour on 3 March 2022 in Glasgow, which noticed them travel up and down the UK performing to all their fans before finishing on 17 March 2022, in Liverpool. They had been joined by special visitor Hrvy across all twelve dates. The band teamed up with the iPledge charity, where they donated £1 from each single ticket sale in assist of The Brain Tumour Charity.[36]

Parker died on 30 March 2022, as stated by his wife.[10] The band's single "Gold Forever" surged in gross sales and streams following the announcement, and the music debuted at quantity 2 on the UK Singles Sales Chart on 1 April 2022.[37] On 27 April 2022, the Wanted released a brand new model of the music, titled "Gold Forever (For Tom)" in tribute.[38] All proceeds of the single sales can be donated to The Brain Tumour Charity.

The group run a weekly online podcast, #WantedWednesday, that includes backstage footage, social activities and unique performances.

Wanted World

In 2012, the group launched an interactive fan site titled Wanted World, the place the followers can get unique entry to new movies, merchandise, VIP tour tickets, and dwell internet chats. It was introduced on Friday 16 December 2011 that the group would embark on their first US tour, with 10 dates to be held over January and February 2012.

The Wanted introduced that they'd embark on their first enviornment tour across the UK and Ireland in February and March 2012. Known because the Code Tour and T.W.A.T., every live performance featured an interactive factor that hyperlinks to their official Facebook and Twitter pages.
